Your fantasy smartphone feature!!

Your fantasy smartphone feature!!

As 65,000 people assembled at Mobile World Congress this week to reveal the cutting-edge advances coming soon to the world of smartphones, we asked you what features you’re desperate to see on the phones of the future.

Readers responded with a raft of comments on the site, Facebook posts, Tweets and Vine videos, comprising their wish-lists for future innovations. We heard everything, from modest demands for better batteries..to the sublimely ridiculous…Meanwhile, Dylan Reynolds, senior editor of CNN’s international website, was on the ground at the Mobile World Conference canvassing the wildest smartphone fantasies of industry insiders, tech geeks and gadget peddlers.

Flashy displays — bendable, expandable, projected, 3D and holographic alike — got imaginations racing this year. It wasn’t long ago that users were content with a miniature, pixellated screen that just about displayed a legible text message — but readers now tell us they want to look at something bigger, brighter, bolder and with a touch more je ne se quois than their existing 5-inch smartphone…Wayne Caswell • a day ago − High-def video conferencing (think FaceTime meets Google+ Hangouts) that lets coworkers collaborate on projects or patients discuss care plans with their primary care doctor, specialists, skilled nursing caretakers, family advocates, and insurer to make sure all are on the same page.

Taking things to the next level, Faisel Mermon, an MWC attendee, is yearning for a more meaningful connection with his mobile device. While we may have moved on from the dark days of large, blocky plastic bricks to the new era of glossy, slimline, aluminium-plated bricks, many feel this still reflects an underlying preoccupation with the brick aesthetic in general.
